SNAP Query and Filters

SNAP supports exploratory querying through UI filters and query presets.

This page provides fake but realistic guidance for testing query behavior.

Query building blocks

  • Dataset selection
  • Dimension filters
  • Metric choice
  • Time range
  • Aggregation level
  • Sort and limit

Typical filter combinations

Regional trend analysis

  • Theme: Jobs & Employment
  • Geography: NUTS2
  • Years: 2017-2025
  • Metric: Employment rate

Skills gap screening

  • Theme: Skills & Training
  • Region: single country + comparator region
  • Age group: 25-54
  • Metric: Skill shortage proxy

Save and reuse queries

Users can save query presets:

  • Name
  • Description
  • Parameter defaults
  • Visibility (private/team)

Query performance notes

  • Prefer narrower time ranges for interactive charts.
  • Avoid requesting too many high-cardinality dimensions at once.
  • Use aggregation before export when possible.

Simulated pseudo-query

SELECT region, year, employment_rate
FROM regional_employment
WHERE country IN ('EL', 'IT', 'ES')
AND year BETWEEN 2018 AND 2025
ORDER BY year ASC

Debug checklist

  • Changing one filter triggers one data refresh.
  • Saved preset restores all filters and metric choice.
  • Reset action returns to baseline state.

Frequent user confusion

  • No data from incompatible filters.
  • Comparing monthly and annual indicators in one chart.
  • Applying country filter after region filter with mismatched scope.
